She will be joined in conversation by directors and deputy directors of institutions who have previously come from museum education leadership positions, including Kelly McKinley, Deputy Director, Oakland Museum of California; Bonnie Pitman, former Eugene McDermott Director (2008-2011) and Deputy Director of The Dallas Museum of Art (2000-2008), and current Distinguished Scholar in Residence for the Edith O’Donnell Institute of Art History, Director Art/Brain Innovations at the Center for BrainHealth, and Distinguished Scholar in Residence for Arts and Technology at the University of Texas at Dallas; and Deborah Schwartz, President and CEO, Brooklyn Historical Society, and formerly The Edward John Noble Foundation Deputy Director for Education, Museum of Modern Art (2002 – 2006) and Vice Director for Education and Program Development, Brooklyn Museum (1989 – 2000). Led by Paul Ingram, this workshop will provide insight into emerging theories of motivation, help identify your key motivational engines, and provide interactive opportunities to practice how motivational strategies can influence organizational change using a relevant case study.

Led by Doris Rothauer, Business Consultant for Creative & Social Entrepreneurs

This final workshop will introduce and apply social entrepreneurship vision and strategy models using FLAME as a case study. Goals of the workshop are to build skills, change perceptions and institutional behaviors to promote the field, nurture the community, and foster data-driven decision-making that advances the museum education field. The skills and models focused on FLAME as a case study will be transferable to other leadership domains and projects. This interactive workshop is led by Doris Rothauer. Doris is an art manager, author, consultant, and coach connecting the art, creative, and social worlds. Prior to her entrepreneurial and freelance career, she worked and held leading positions in renowned art institutions in Vienna. She believes in the change-making power of art and creativity, and aims at designing and fostering cultural impact with her work. She is the author of Creativity & Capital, Art and Economy in Radical Change, and Vision and Strategy: Strategic Thinking for Creative and Social Entrepreneurs.
